
SWIN’s Special Events Funding is an extension of the Pathways Program, designed to support community-led sport and recreation events that encourage high levels of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation. This funding aims to strengthen cultural connection through sport, increase access to local opportunities, and promote healthier, more active communities across South West Queensland.
SWIN offers limited funding of up to $1,000 to support Indigenous-focused sport and recreation events in eligible areas.
Eligible Local Government Areas:
Toowoomba, Southern Downs, Western Downs, Goondiwindi, Balonne, Maranoa, Paroo, Murweh, Quilpie, and Bulloo.
Events must be delivered within one of these LGA’s to be considered.
Application Requirements:
Event Proposal (max 2 pages):
Include details such as participant numbers, teams, volunteers, dates, nomination fees, public liability, anticipated outcomes, prize money (if any), and whether the event is drug and alcohol free.
Budget Breakdown:
Outline how the funding will be used and list any additional funding secured for the event.
SWIN Acknowledgement:
Provide a paragraph explaining how SWIN will be recognised for supporting the event through the Pathways Program.
Funding Criteria:
Events must demonstrate the capacity to enhance Indigenous participation in sport and recreation.
A minimum of 75% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation is required.
Funding will not support individual teams or team sponsorships for external events. Preference may be given to new initiatives in the eligible regions. Applications are assessed by the SWIN Board and are subject to funding availability.
