The Western Rivers Cup is South West Queensland’s premier Indigenous regional cricket carnival and the only event of its kind in the region. This culturally significant event is a proud joint initiative between the South West Indigenous Network (SWIN) and Queensland Cricket, created to celebrate and showcase Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander sporting talent. The carnival’s name pays tribute to the deep cultural connection between Indigenous communities and the river systems that flow through Queensland. Each participating team is named after one of these important rivers, symbolising strength, identity, and connection to Country.

The 2025 Western Rivers Cricket Carnival was a great success, with the Fitzroy Stars claiming the title for a second year in a row and the Bulloo Suns finishing as runners-up. The plate final was also played with McIntyre Stormers taking out the win over TJ’s Condamine Lightning.

The event was proudly supported by ALTRAD, our Major Sponsor for 2025, along with Lord’s Taverners, Wild Desert, GR Productions, Cave Gym, Precision Accounting, Queensland Cricket, ATSICHS and Miles Accommodation Services. With strong community backing and growing interest, we’re excited to deliver an even bigger and better carnival in 2026.
