Our SWIN Toowoomba Indigenous Sport and Rec Officer is currently participating in a North QLD sports education tour delivering Hot Shots tennis programs to communities across the Cape region.

Our SWIN Toowoomba Indigenous Sport and Rec Officer is currently participating in a North QLD sports education tour assisting our valuable program partner, Tennis QLD, by delivering Hot Shots tennis programs in communities across the Cape region. The week long tour visits communities such as Cooktown, Rossville, Wonga Beach and Mossman with children in these areas also having the opportunity to participate in Baseball, Hockey, Rugby League and Soccer clinics as well.

This Cape tour follows on from our Toowoomba Indigenous Sport and Rec Officer’s successful involvement in two other North QLD regional tours this year which visited communities such as Mornington Island, Doomadgee, Mt Isa, Winton, Boulia and Cloncurry.

The strong developing relationship between SWIN and Tennis QLD has not only seen opportunities for personal development for our South West sport and rec officers through participation in sports tours outside the South West region but is also providing increased opportunity for the Indigenous community to participate in tennis through Come and Try Gala Days and other events. An MOU between the SWIN network and Tennis QLD is also close to being completed to further solidify the positive relationship the two organisations have and to provide more opportunities for the Indigenous community across South West QLD to live a healthier life through participation in tennis!
