TRAX Sports Tour hitting the Western Downs

May 12, 2016 //  by SWIN

The Western Downs TRAX Sports Education Tour will commence on Monday 16th May at Guluguba State School, with Grosmont State School also joining.  The two schools will be treated to sessions of Baseball, Cricket, Football (Soccer), Hockey, Rugby League, Touch Football, and Golf.  The TRAX Team will also be visiting the following schools across the week:

  • St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Chinchilla;
  • Chinchilla State School;
  • Meandarra State School;
  • Glenmorgan State School;
  • Condamine State School;
  • Drillham State School;
  • Durong South State School;
  • Dulacca State School; and
  • Miles State School.

SWIN would also like to acknowledge and thank the following organisations for their valuable contribution towards the Western Downs TRAX Education Tour:

  • Baseball Queensland;
  • Football Queensland;
  • Hockey Queensland;
  • National Rugby League;
  • Queensland Cricket;
  • Queensland Touch Football; and
  • Toowoomba PCYC.

The TRAX Sports Education Tours, funded through the Department of Social Services (Community Development and Participation Programme), are often the only chance for students from small and remote schools to trial and experience new sports, and access coaching.  The Tours, held over a week, offer primary school aged participants with quality coaching, inclusiveness and the ability to improve overall health and well-being through physical activity.  It also provides sports administration workshops and in-service training for teachers, coaches, officials and club administrators to ensure ongoing participation is well supported in communities.  The Tours are strongly supported by the State and National Sporting Organisations whose Development Officers host many of the specialist clinics.  Attached below is the Program Booklet for the week.
